Stick a UFO on it…

With the sheer amount of post industrial structures that were left in the Ruhrgebiet it’s not always easy to come up with new ideas. Well, this one is up there with the more unusual results. Let me introduce you the Lüntec Tower in the small town of Lünen in the North of the Ruhrgebiet. It’s also called the Collani Egg or UFO.

Designed in 1995 by Luigi Collani it sits on top of a steel coal mining frame from 1924 and was supposed to be part of a larger technology parc redevelopment plan of the area but that sadly never happened. Since 2009 it’s a business lounge and conference venue. It’s 8.5m tall and has a usable are of 300sqm.

Apparently on occasions it’s open to the public so I will put that back on my To-Do list.
